Graduated from Texas A&I University with a Bachelor of Music Education in 1970 and
also has a Master’s of Science in Educational Administration from Texas A&I University.
Rolando played trumpet and sang with the Beto Leal Orchestra since 1963, when he was 16
years old. He played with Beto for 50 years. He recorded several C.D.’s for the Beto Leal
Orchestra.He also played with Chavez and The Chavels for a short time in the late 60’sand also played with
a group named “The Untouchables” in 1969.  He also played trumpet with the Eddie Galvan Orchestra in the late 60’s and early 70’s.  He also played with the Glynn Garcia Band and the Nic Sabala Band recently.
Job History:  1970-71, Rolando began his career with the Crockett Middle School Band in Port Lavaca. He
earned the first 1st division in the school’s history.
1971 to 2015 , Taught at Kingsville I.S.D. as a junior high band director and assistant band
director at H.M. King High School for 12 years and then as Head Director and Director of Fine
Arts for 32 years.  2019-2022 Taught in Falfurrias, Tx. As Head Band Director
2023 to now, Teaches in Robstown ISD as an Associate Band Director.
Honors:  The H.M. King Band participated in the State UIL Marching Band Contest 13 times during
his tenure in Kingsville. They were Finalists in 1984. His bands in Falfurrias and Robstown
also advanced to the State UIL Marching Band Contest.  His Concert Band was 2nd runner up to Honor Band of the State of Texas in 1993-94 and 6th runner up in 2003-2004.  The H.M. King Band won 31 UILSweepstakes awards during Molina’s tenure as head director at H.M. King.  There were 54 All-State Band and Orchestra students during his tenure at H.M. King High School.  The H.M. King Band was featured in the Orange Bowl in 2005. They were also featured in the Cotton Bowl in 1999. His band won concert festivals in Washington D.C, Orlando, Florida,
Colorado Springs, and San Antonio.  From 2005 to 2015, he was the director of the Mariachi Del Rey at H.M. King High School.  His Mariachi was 1st runner up to state champions twice and a finalist 6 times. He also had
two All-State Mariachi musicians. Mariachi Del Rey was featured in an international voice festival, (Voices Without Borders) in Michigan in July of 2014. The festival directors came to Texas and listened to recordings of school Mariachis and selected H.M. King to represent Mariachi Music at their festival. Music of seven different countries was featured in the festival. Mr. Molina also served on the state board of directors with Texas Association of
Mariachi Educators. He has served as a Mariachi Clinician for over 30 years. Mr. Molina is a member of T.M.E.A., ATSSB, TBA, Phi Bet Mu, Kappa Kappa Psi, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, and Texas Association of Mariachi Educators. Molina is a member of Texas Music Adjudicators Association. He served as PRESIDENT of this organization and was on the board of directors for several years. He also served on the Committee on Standards of Adjudication and Performance Practices in this association. He served as a Region 14 Representative for seven years for the Texas Bandmasters Association. He served on the Young Bandmaster of the Year committee for Phi Beta Mu, and also served on the publicity committee for Phi Beta Mu. He served as TMEA Region 14 vice president for 20 years. He served on several State UIL Music committees. He was inducted into the TAMUK Band Hall of Fame in 2005. There are only 5 members in this elite group of honorees. He was recognized by the Texas State Legislature for his outstanding work as a band director in Kingsville, Texas on April 14, 2005. He was inducted as an honorary Kappa Kappa Psi member at Texas A&M University in Kingsville, Texas in 2012. Rolando was also recognized as a “Distinguished Alumnus” of Texas A&I University for his significant contributions to his profession and his community and his university in 2015. Rolando was also inducted into the “Region 14 Band Director Hall of Fame” in 2015. Mr. Molina has presented clinics at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and
Texas Bandmasters Association Convention 5 times. He has served as Chairman of the 6-A trumpet tryouts for the TMEA All-State Band Convention for the last 15 years.He has served as a clinician and adjudicator for band and music festivals for over 43 years. Mr. Molina has taught over 100 students that are band directors or music educators in Texas and throughout the United States. He also has hundreds of former students that are professional
musicians throughout the United States. He served as director of the Mc Allen Townband from 2004 to 2006. This was an adult band that provided concerts to the public every month and recorded live C.D.’s at every performance.
He is a member of  Who’s Who in American Education. He is a member of the Knights of Columbus, where he is an officer and serves on the board of directors. He served as an assistant Scout Master for Troop 144, Boy Scouts of America, in Kingsville for four years. The Kingsville I.S.D. Board of Directors honored him by naming their new Fine Arts complex in Kingsville as “The Rolando Molina Fine Arts Center” in 2013. In July of 2016, Rolando was inducted into the Phi Beta Mu Texas Band Director Hall of Fame for his outstanding work as a Texas Band Director at the Texas Bandmasters Association Convention in San Antonio. Rolando also received the coveted “Meritorius Award” from the Texas Bandmasters Association in 2017, an award given to the three most distinguished directors in the state for their outstanding work in their career. Mr. Molina is in his 55th year as a music educator and is now an associate band director in Robstown, Texas.
